Jimjam Music Man’s Touring Campfire Songs
Jimjam Music Man’s Touring Campfire Songs is an hour long workshop that allows young people to learn the basics of performance and music theory. It provides a space for young people to build their confidence both in music and in working with one another through the medium of campfire songs.

“I liked the music. My favourite part is when we had to stand up and do the actions. It was really fun.”
– Wendy, Aged 9
In this hour of active learning, children will get the chance to get involved with activities that include singing, moving to music and writing their own lyrics. The session is designed to align with the national music curriculum and can be focused on different areas to align with the children’s ongoing term-time education. Areas covered include:
- Following the beat.
- Instrument groups (Percussion, Strings, Woodwind, Brass).
- What are verses and choruses and what are their functions?
- What is call and response? What does singing in the round mean?
- Different kinds of chords and how music can express different emotions.
- What are rests in music?
- What is tempo? How can it change and what effect does it have?

“I liked when he played the guitar. My favourite part is when it gone crazy in the tree song. It was extreme.”
– Skyler, Aged 8
